[Abstract]:In a recent BioSpace feature, Viva Biotech experts discuss cyclic peptide discovery, development and manufacturing.

Cyclic peptides are gaining momentum as a therapeutic modality, with the potential to combine the oral convenience of small molecules with antibody-like selectivity. Their development, however, still requires careful optimization of bioavailability, PK, synthesis reproducibility, impurity control and scale-up.

In a recent BioSpace feature, Viva Biotech experts Dr. Susan Chen, Chief Technology Officer, and Dr. Yue Qian, VP & Head of MARS Division, discuss how AI-enabled peptide design, ADME/PK modeling and hybrid SPPS/LPPS synthesis strategies can support peptide discovery and development. Viva's hybrid synthesis approach has also been applied to kilogram-scale GLP-1 analogue preparation at ≥99% purity.

The article also explores the importance of connecting discovery with downstream development and manufacturing early, highlighting Viva Biotech's integrated capabilities across AI-enabled design, peptide synthesis, process development, analytics, formulation and manufacturing.
